About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Content Partnerships and Business Development to join our team at Verizon. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing Verizon's Fios content activities, including programming, acquisitions, development, and strategic partnerships.

You will work closely with our Content Strategy and Partnerships team to manage all aspects of linear programming deals and initiatives, with a focus on Broadcast portfolios and retransmission consent affiliates. Additionally, you will help drive Verizon's value proposition across Mobile and Home by executing and managing direct-to-consumer distribution deals.

This is a hybrid role, with a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with content partners and the industry at large, representing Verizon's reputation as an industry leader.
  • Lead negotiations and structuring deals with partners to secure content licensing agreements with the necessary rights to support Verizon's current and future businesses.
  • Manage relationships and negotiations with Verizon's key content providers.
  • Partner cross-functionally with other content platform teams to ensure the maximization of assets, top-tier content flow, and consumer/revenue growth.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Experience in programming and content acquisitions from best-in-class cable provider and/or content programmer.
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration, a matrixed organization with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Translated market knowledge and strategy into compelling stories presented to senior executives.
  • Experience in partner management, business development, and deal negotiation.
  • Ability to anticipate risks and drive risk management with a cross-functional team.

  • Legal background.
  • Master's or other advanced degree - MBA preferred.
  • Proven leadership and excellent communication skills.
  • Strong people management and organization skills.
  • Hands-on, 'roll up your sleeves' mindset, with a strong personality and ability to be a driver and change agent in an organization.
  • Strong self-initiative and persistence, ability to deal with a high degree of ambiguity and drive clarity in key areas.
  • Deep understanding of a dynamic multi-platform content market (including linear TV and distribution business models, knowledge of market trends and dynamics).
  • Analytical rigor and uses data and analytics to drive decisions.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and comfort dealing with ambiguity.
  • Accomplished dealmaker with a solid understanding of media deals, and thrives in a dynamic marketplace.
  • Track record of successfully negotiating and executing long-term agreements that created additional revenue opportunities and new customer engagement.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively and rapidly evaluate deals.
