Job Summary

The Library Communications and Admin Student Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the daily functions of the library communications team and staffs the front desk of the Office of the University Librarian. This position requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who can effectively communicate with professionals and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content Development: Create engaging content for library social media platforms, staying up-to-date with current trends and identifying opportunities to engage with audiences.
  • Event Planning and Execution: Assist with planning, setup, and execution of student-facing and internal library events, including logistical support and handling RSVPs.
  • Marketing Materials: Design and print posters, promotional materials, and event materials to promote library events and services.
  • Front Desk Support: Provide information and directions to visitors to the Office of the University Librarian, maintaining a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain office inventory and order supplies as needed to ensure efficient operations.
  • Patron Support: Consolidate and review all patron purchases in the library, providing excellent customer service.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in periodic team meetings and assist with special projects as assigned, demonstrating initiative and a willingness to learn.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience in developing graphics for social media using Adobe suite or Canva is highly desirable.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with professionals and the public.
  • Independence: Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Event Experience: Previous experience with organizing and running events or marketing and communications in a professional or student leadership position is highly desirable.
  • Initiative and Attention to Detail: Demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
