Peer Support Specialist

Catholic Charities Eastern Washington is seeking a qualified Fixed Site Peer Support Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for providing peer support services to households living in Catholic Housing Communities (CHS) permanent supportive housing (PSH) projects.
Job SummaryThis position is a vital part of our Integrated Case Management team, working closely with clients to promote recovery and self-sufficiency. As a peer support specialist, you will provide support, education, and community resource navigation to clients who may have behavioral health challenges and barriers to employment and recovery.
Key Responsibilities- Provide peer support services to clients, adhering to SAMSHA best practice guidelines.
- Teach clients how to navigate community-based services and organizations.
- Empower clients to problem-solve and find their own solutions.
- Collaborate with the Integrated Case Management team to ensure clients' behavioral health and physical health needs are addressed.
- Model personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness.
- Maintain professional boundaries.
- Accurately account for time worked according to agency standards.
- Work with the Integrated Case Management team to ensure outcomes of grant agreements, contracts, MOU's, and other commitments are met.
- Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and security of CCEW client protected health information (PHI), per regulations outlined in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).
- Regularly utilize all forms of communication and database practices necessary for this position and as directed by supervisor.
- As a mandated reporter, follow all procedures outlined in agency policies and procedures to report suspected child or adult abuse or neglect.
- Obtain Peer Certification from DBHR within 6 months of employment.
- Adhere to the tenants of Catholic Social Teaching.
- Perform related functions as assigned to support program success and the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.
To be successful in this role, you must meet the minimum qualifications listed below.
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of successful work experience
- Lived experience that allows the successful candidate to understand and relate to program clients
Certificates/Licenses: A valid Driver's License, successful background check, and DBHR Peer Training certification within 6 months of start date are required.
Physical Abilities: The ability to regularly sit, stand, climb, walk, talk, and hear, and occasionally crawl, stoop, and kneel.
Mental & Other Skills/Abilities: Adaptability, analytical ability, attendance, computer/technical ability, dependability, interpersonal skills, judgment, language ability, mathematical ability, motor coordination, problem-solving ability, quality management, reasoning ability, and supervisory skills are essential for this role.
