United Way Miami, Inc. is seeking a Specialist II in Communications to enhance our organizational brand visibility across multiple platforms. This pivotal role involves the creation and review of a variety of communication materials, including newsletters, press releases, reports, and updates for both internal and external audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in all communication initiatives
  • Contribute to public relations and brand enhancement efforts
  • Draft and refine content for diverse projects and formats
  • Engage in team brainstorming sessions and offer innovative insights
  • Conduct in-depth research and interviews
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to implement projects
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned
  • Update website content (WordPress)

Essential Skills:

  • Written Communication: The ideal candidate will excel in creating engaging content that appeals to a wide-ranging audience.
  • Oral Communication: Must be an effective communicator in both group settings and one-on-one interactions.
  • Tact and Interpersonal Skills: The role requires a tactful individual with strong leadership capabilities.

Education and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in journalism or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of writing experience in mission-driven organizations, corporate settings, or consumer-focused brands. Familiarity with digital media and non-profit sectors is advantageous.

Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Additional Knowledge/Skills: Proficiency in written and oral communication, public relations, website management (WordPress), and media relations are crucial for success in this role. Candidates should be highly motivated, organized, and capable of producing content across various communication channels. Knowledge of digital media, marketing, and advertising strategies is essential. Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail is required.
