Position Summary:

The Animal Care Specialist will assist veterinarians in various procedures, including sterilization and surgeries. Responsibilities include conducting health assessments and providing care for sick or injured animals.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess an Associate's degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Technology, or a related field, along with at least one year of relevant experience. Certification in Veterinary Technology is required within six months of employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the veterinarian.
  • Administer treatments and medications as per established protocols.
  • Assist in emergency care and stabilization under veterinarian supervision.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinic areas and equipment.
  • Ensure all animals are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
  • Conduct routine diagnostics and laboratory tests.
  • Support veterinarians during surgical procedures and provide post-operative care.
  • Manage medication documentation and inventory for controlled substances.
  • Educate pet owners on at-home care and provide discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records for all animals.
