Position Overview:

GoldenWolf is in search of a qualified Senior Fire Safety Engineer to deliver full-time, on-site support as part of the Engineering Operations team. This role encompasses the planning, directing, and coordination of fire safety system projects while ensuring adherence to all pertinent codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the Engineering Infrastructure team on all fire safety system-related issues in support of the mission.
  • Utilize a variety of CAD/BIM and other software tools to create plans, specifications, hydraulic calculations, material lists, and other documentation for projects, ensuring compliance with state, local, and federal codes, as well as standards set by authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Conduct evaluations of building fire safety, codes, and life-safety measures, and prepare/present technical reports and presentations.
  • Perform functional testing and commissioning for government acceptance of systems through detailed verification of design, installation, functionality, and performance of fire safety equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers to support facility modifications and projects, ensuring compliance with scope and specifications.
  • Assess proposed projects and technical solutions for necessity, code compliance, effectiveness, and life cycle cost.
  • Respond to technical Requests for Information (RFIs) in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and policies.
  • Travel to various sites for comprehensive inspections of existing equipment conditions, evaluate maintenance procedures, and confirm proper operational practices.
  • Provide detailed travel reports outlining observations, findings, and recommendations in a clear and accessible manner for non-engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or fire protection engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration in Fire Protection is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the healthcare sector, with direct responsibility for the operation, maintenance, repair, and management of fire safety systems for large institutional, industrial, or healthcare facilities. This experience must be recent and continuous over the last three years.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) Clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise in all aspects of fire safety systems, including design, analysis, and management.
  • Strong understanding of local, municipal, and federal building codes, criteria, and standards.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communicative, diplomatic, and analytical skills for delivering technically sound fire safety engineering strategies to project stakeholders.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design software such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Revit.
