Fire Safety Alarm Technician

This role involves the effective installation, operation, and upkeep of fire alarm systems. Key responsibilities include conducting inspections, testing, and performing system evaluations in compliance with fire regulations; identifying deficiencies in codes and systems, and generating precise and timely inspection reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install or upgrade fire alarm systems in both commercial and residential properties.
- Test and repair existing alarm systems.
- Conduct inspections to verify compliance with installation codes.
- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports detailing any identified issues.
- Document and report work outcomes accurately and promptly.
- Safeguard and maintain company equipment.
- Inspect and care for the service vehicle and associated equipment, submitting repair requests as needed to ensure safe operation.
- Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, safely and in accordance with all safety regulations and manufacturer instructions.
- Adhere to safety protocols as outlined by company policies, including driver safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Respond to emergency service requests.
- Maintain a tidy and secure work environment.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by management.
- Preferred NICET certification (requires prior experience or training).
- Familiarity with NFPA standards is advantageous (including standards 70 and 72).
- Experience with both commercial and residential alarm systems.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively and independently.
- Must possess a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Flexibility with scheduling, including potential evening, weekend, and out-of-town assignments.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of fire safety principles and practices.
- Understanding of relevant codes and regulations.
- Competence in reviewing official documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Ability to take on a leadership role when necessary.
- Capability to identify and report discrepancies through inspection processes.
- Ability to interpret and apply applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and reports.
- Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
- Skills in using or repairing small/light equipment, such as power tools and ladders.
- Comply with the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
- Perform other duties as required.
- This position regularly requires standing, walking, using hands for various tasks, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and occasionally lifting or moving heavy items.
- The role also necessitates physical abilities such as balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, and visual acuity.
