At Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, a leader in the fire, life safety, and security industry, we are seeking a dedicated professional for the role of Fire Protection Systems Technician. This position entails the meticulous installation, operation, and upkeep of fire sprinkler systems. Key responsibilities include conducting inspections, testing, and performing system evaluations. You will play a crucial role in identifying system deficiencies and generating precise and timely inspection reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on fire suppression sprinkler systems.
  • Conduct servicing and inspections of wet, dry, and pre-action fire suppression systems.
  • Install, maintain, repair, or replace fire sprinkler equipment and systems in strict compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Service wet-based fire sprinkler systems.
  • Engage with clients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Install or upgrade fire sprinklers in both commercial and residential properties.
  • Test and repair existing alarm systems.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure alarms are installed in accordance with regulations.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues and reporting results of completed work accurately and promptly.
  • Safeguard and maintain company equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain the service vehicle and all related tools, submitting repair requests as necessary to ensure safe operation.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, to facilitate the loading and unloading process while adhering to all safety regulations and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Work safely in accordance with company safety protocols, including driver safety and personal protective equipment.
  • Respond to emergency service requests.
  • Maintain a tidy and safe work environment.
  • Follow directions and work independently when required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with fire sprinkler systems is preferred.
  • Experience with both commercial and residential systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently.
  • A clean driving record and reliable transportation to and from the office or job site.
  • Flexibility with scheduling, including potential evening, weekend, and out-of-town assignments.
  • Knowledge of fire safety principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with codes and regulations relevant to the work.
  • Ability to review official documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Capability to lead and recognize/report deviations through inspection programs.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Proficient in maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Experience using or repairing small/light equipment, such as power tools and ladders.

Additional Information:

  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the employee to regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects.

The role also necessitates the following physical abilities: balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, and visual acuity.
