Position Title: Combination Inspector - Electrical

Job Overview:
Under general supervision, the Combination Inspector is tasked with ensuring compliance with established codes and regulations through the provision of information to the public, evaluation of proposed plans, and inspection of new and modified electrical installations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct inspections and testing of electrical systems to verify adherence to national standards and codes.
2. Review specifications, blueprints, and plans related to electrical installations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
3. Provide exemplary customer service by collaborating with builders, developers, architects, and engineers to resolve construction-related issues.
4. Monitor permit lists to ensure no unauthorized electrical work is being conducted; review and authorize permits for electrical wiring.
5. Prepare detailed reports of inspections, including conditions observed, actions taken, and recommendations for further action.
6. Stay informed about changes in codes and standards, recommending updates as necessary.
7. Participate in ongoing education and training related to electrical codes and inspection practices.

Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or GED equivalent, with completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship program and four years of experience as a journeyman in the field.
2. Significant experience in at least one additional construction discipline is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Proficient in conducting inspections and plan reviews related to electrical codes and other construction disciplines.
2. Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code and related ordinances.
3. Excellent public relations skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders.
4. Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints, recognizing deviations during the construction process.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position include frequent standing, walking, and communication. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required. The role may involve exposure to various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and potential hazards associated with electrical work.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must reside within a specified radius from the City's Emergency Center within a designated timeframe.
