Position Title: Electrical Compliance Inspector

Job Overview:
Under general supervision, this role is responsible for the enforcement of established codes and regulations through the provision of information to the public, assessment of proposed plans, and inspection of both new and modified electrical installations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections and tests on electrical systems to ensure compliance with national standards.
  • Review specifications, blueprints, and plans for electrical installations, ensuring adherence to codes and regulations.
  • Provide exemplary customer service by collaborating with builders, developers, architects, and engineers to resolve construction-related issues.
  • Monitor permit lists to prevent unauthorized electrical work and authorize permits for electrical wiring.
  • Prepare detailed reports of inspections, including conditions observed, actions taken, and recommendations for further action.
  • Stay informed on the latest electrical codes and regulations through attendance at seminars and training sessions.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent, have completed an accredited electrical apprenticeship program, and have a minimum of four years of experience as a journeyman in the electrical field. Additional experience in other construction disciplines is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and regulations.
  • Strong skills in public relations and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints accurately.
  • Proficient in preparing professional reports and written correspondence.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this position require the ability to stand, walk, and communicate effectively. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be necessary. The role may involve exposure to various environmental conditions.

Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver's license and relevant electrical inspector certifications are required.
