Job Summary

The Director of Alumni Affairs is a key member of the university's advancement team, responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive alumni relations program that fosters engagement and support for the university's strategic plan. This role requires a strong understanding of alumni relations principles and methods, as well as the ability to work successfully with multiple constituencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive alumni relations program that increases alumni engagement and support for the university's strategic plan.
  • Build stronger ties among alumni and the university through a wide variety of programming and direction to the National Alumni Association and Board of Trustees, regional alumni chapters, and other volunteer leaders.
  • Work with the national alumni association to develop strategies and oversight for alumni affinity groups.
  • Enlist, engage, and train teams of volunteers committed to building a successful alumni association.
  • Assist with the coordination of alumni association programs, including events, activities, fundraising opportunities, and alumni recognition.
  • Provide leadership for various communication programs for alumni, including quarterly e-newsletters and relationships with potential major donors.
  • Sustain a current and viable contact management system.
  • Plan events to promote continued partnerships and outreach to the alumni community.
  • Sustain and grow attendance and engagement through regional and national alumni events.
  • Collaborate externally with alumni, promoters, donors, other universities, and the hospitality industry.
  • Oversee all alumni activities and communications.
  • Develop and maintain a listing of alumni and donors.
  • Provide metrics related to alumni, activities, donors, and donations.
  • Create innovation in donation efforts that may result in new technologies or processes.
  • Serve as liaison to the National Alumni Association and the Saint Augustine's University Young Alumni Council.
  • Attend various alumni chapter meetings and events and provide support as needed. Assist in fundraising events.
  • Manage a process for ongoing alumni class reunions, including Homecoming and other events.
  • Work to turn prospects into donors.
  • Facilitate ongoing, consistent, professional communications between the university and its alumni, including the leadership and memberships of Saint Augustine's University Alumni Association, and serve as a conduit for alumni communications.
  • Serve as advisor to the Saint Augustine's University Pre-Alumni Council.
  • Serve as advisor to the UNCF Student Ambassadors for Saint Augustine's University.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum of 3 years related experience required.
  • Advanced degree and experience in a higher education alumni affairs environment preferred.
Physical Demands

The Director of Alumni Affairs must have the ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends, as well as some travel. Must be able to lift and carry equipment and materials for alumni and campus event set-up. Requires sitting, stooping, bending, and some lifting up to 20 lbs.
