Position Overview:

The Fineman & Pappas Law Libraries are on the lookout for a dedicated Manager of Collections and Resource Sharing to enhance our vibrant Access Services team. This role reports directly to the Assistant Director and is pivotal in overseeing the management of the law library's print collection, delivering resource sharing services to the B.U. Law Community, and supervising two Access Services staff members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for two Access Services department staff, including the Evening Library Supervisor and the Digitization & Stacks Coordinator.
  • Manage and oversee the law library's print collection, which encompasses regular updates, itemization, inventory initiatives, retrospective labeling, and collection realignment.
  • Delegate stacks and collection projects to library assistants and manage student employees involved in stacks-based tasks, ensuring effective training, assessment, and quality control.
  • Plan and direct the realignment of the Law Libraries' collection and strategize for the future of the law libraries' off-site storage, in collaboration with the Assistant Director.
  • Facilitate resource sharing and interlibrary loan services for law library patrons while lending services to our resource sharing partners, critically assessing current procedures, implementing necessary changes, and monitoring trends in the resource sharing domain.
  • Oversee circulation services and guide library users in utilizing the law library's resources and services, while supervising Access Services staff and student employees in these activities.
  • Assist in the overall management of library operations and the oversight of library spaces, equipment, and services.
  • Engage in other special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

A cover letter is required for consideration.

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a library public services department, or an MLS/MLIS with at least 3 years of experience in a library public services department.
  • In-depth knowledge of academic library public services, including circulation, reserves, and stacks maintenance.
  • Proficiency in using library catalogs and basic business software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, management, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior management or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated record of increasing responsibility in a public services department.
  • Experience in a law library or familiarity with legal materials.
  • Experience with an Integrated Library System (ILS), particularly ExLibris Alma.
  • Previous involvement with interlibrary loan and resource sharing initiatives.
