Senior Computational Chemist

About the Role
AbsbbVie is seeking a highly skilled Senior Computational Chemist to join our Molecular Profiling and Drug Delivery (MPDD) function. As a key member of our team, you will utilize state-of-the-art automation and computational tools to progress drug candidates with higher probability of success into development.
The ideal candidate will possess an advanced degree in computational chemistry and have experience with quantum mechanics, molecular dynamics, and machine learning. You will work collaboratively with other functions within Development Sciences and Discovery Sciences to guide the design and progression of compounds with optimal developability properties.
Responsibilities
- Develop stage-appropriate computational models using advanced computational techniques to enable design and optimization of drug candidates.
- Collaborate with discovery colleagues to build computational models for various applications, including predicting aqueous/organic solubilities, chemical stabilities, crystal structures, and binding affinities.
- Contribute to the development of computational infrastructure by identifying novel tools and techniques.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in computational chemistry, computer science, biophysics, chemical engineering, or related field.
- Knowledge in one or more areas of the computational chemistry discipline, such as quantum mechanics, molecular dynamics, structure-based design, ligand-based design, and physicochemical property prediction.
- Advanced user of QM or MD software packages.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k). The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
