About This Opportunity

Biogen is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Associate Scientist for the identification of drug metabolites and some metabolizing enzymes to support the discovery and development of innovative therapies. Located in Cambridge, MA, this role offers great opportunities for growth and execution of skills and expertise in biotransformation. You will work closely with medicinal chemists and scientists in other functions to advance our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identification and structural elucidation of drug metabolites using liquid chromatography - high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS).
  • In vitro incubations to generate drug metabolite samples and investigate biotransformation mechanisms.
  • Purification of in vitro or in vivo drug metabolite sample for NMR structural identification.
  • Radiolabeled metabolite profiling and identification studies.
  • Drafting study reports on metabolite identification and biotransformation.
  • In vitro metabolic reaction phenotyping to identify drug metabolizing enzymes.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in liquid chromatograph and/or mass spectrometry.
  • Strong understanding of organic chemistry and general chemistry.
  • Capable of handling in vitro and in vivo biological samples.
  • Good communication skills.

Estimated Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 per year
