Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range for this position reflects a nationwide market range and encompasses a wide spectrum of salaries for this role across the country.

The actual salary will be influenced by various factors, including the role's scope, complexity, and location; the candidate's skills, education, training, credentials, and experience; as well as other employment conditions.

As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees may also qualify for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$77,000 - $127,200.00

What Is the Opportunity?

Under general supervision, this role is accountable for managing first-party property claims, which includes investigating, assessing, estimating, and negotiating to ensure optimal resolution for personal or business claims of significant severity and complexity.

Deliver quality claim management throughout the claim lifecycle (customer interactions, coverage assessments, investigations, evaluations, reserving, negotiations, and resolutions) while adhering to internal and external quality standards and state-specific regulations.

Provide consulting and training resources, serving as a contact and technical resource for field teams and business partners.

This position is entirely remote and may involve a mix of mobile work and/or work from your primary residence.


What Will You Do?

  • Manage first-party property claims of high severity and complexity as assigned.
  • Conduct field inspections of losses, including accurate damage assessments, photographs, written estimates, and/or computer-assisted estimates.
  • Utilize innovative technologies extensively.
  • Investigate and evaluate all pertinent facts to determine coverage, damages, and liability of first-party property damage claims, including analyzing leases, contracts, by-laws, and other relevant documents.
  • Secure recorded or written statements as necessary.
  • Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves.
  • Determine appropriate settlement amounts based on independent judgment, computer-assisted estimates, actual cash value, replacement value, contractor estimate validation, appraisals, and applicable limits and deductibles.
  • Negotiate with various stakeholders, including contractors and insured representatives, to convey claim settlements within authority limits.
  • Draft denial letters, Reservation of Rights, and other complex correspondence.
  • Assess damage extent accurately and manage damages using cost evaluation tools.
  • Meet all quality standards and expectations in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain a diary system, capturing all required data and documenting claim file activities as per established procedures.
  • Manage file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases.
  • Handle files in compliance with applicable state regulations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to meet the needs of insured clients, agents, and all internal and external business partners.
  • Identify and refer claims to appropriate units as necessary.
  • Perform administrative functions such as expense accounts and time-off reporting as required.
  • Actively mentor and coach less experienced claims professionals.
  • Participate in legal proceedings as needed, including depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Engage in our Catastrophe Response Program, which may involve deployment to assist customers in other states.

To perform essential job functions, acquisition and maintenance of Insurance License(s) may be required to comply with state and Travelers' requirements.

This position necessitates the ability to access and inspect all areas of a dwelling or structure, which can be physically demanding, requiring the ability to carry, set up, and climb a ladder weighing approximately 38 to 49 pounds, walk on roofs, and enter tight spaces.

What is a Must Have?

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in Personal Insurance or Business Insurance Property claim handling required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
