Job Summary

The Software Team Lead is a key role in Citi's US Commercial Bank, reporting into the Digital, Tech and Comms (DT&C) group. This position is responsible for managing a team of Relationship Managers, focusing on banking privately held emerging-growth software companies that are VC-backed (Series A or later-stage), US-headquartered, with revenues between $10 million and $100 million.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive innovation in solutions provided to clients through partnerships with product specialists and subject matter experts.
  • Execute strategic initiatives launched centrally at all levels (Group, Bank, commercial market, and EIB).
  • Oversee the credit relationship of the client, coordinating and supervising the entire process, ensuring the proper application of policies and institutional processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Citi's policies/guidelines at all times.
  • Lead a team of Relationship Managers, responsible for calling on clients to deepen relationships and proactively owning, responding to, and anticipating future needs, roadblocks, or risks.
  • Attract, retain, and motivate a team, along with responsibility for managing a budget and meeting team sales goals.
  • Assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in relationship management with technology companies that have venture capital backing.
  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of commercial banking, commercial credit knowledge, and an ability to quickly learn new products and services.
  • Sound judgment and creativity in providing credit/deposit solutions to bank clients.
  • Demonstrated sound credit skills, including structuring complex deals, such as MRR, venture debt, and acquisition financing.
  • Significant experience with commercial credit decision-making authority, including complex capital structures and cross-border transactions.
  • Minimum intermediate-level credit skills with the capability to demonstrate advanced-level credit skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and interact with various internal and external constituencies.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and leading teams through complex change, retaining, attracting, and developing talent.
  • Proven leadership ability with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to express a sound opinion and present another viewpoint agreeably.
  • Able to quickly adapt priorities based on the latest data insights.
Education
  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred.
