We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Attorney-Adviser to serve as the Chief of the Administrative and Civil Law Branch for the Office of Staff Judge Advocate (SJA). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to the command and staff on issues related to administrative and civil law.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal advice and support to the command and staff on issues related to administrative and civil law.
- Supervise attorneys and paralegals and provide guidance on complex legal issues.
- Plan and assign work to subordinates, setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work.
- Serve as legal advisor to key executives, including the Garrison Commander, Deputy Directors, supervisors, and subordinate Commanders.
- Responsible for a variety of complex legal issues arising within the command and other issues arising in support of executive agents for DA and DOD functions.
- Provide legal and business advice on contract and fiscal law issues affecting all phases of contract operations.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing solicitation packages, statements of work, contract specifications, and other contract documents for clarity and legal sufficiency.
- Incumbent is responsible for all claims matters that require coordination with U.S. Army Claims Service prior to payment or final and irrevocable settlement.
- Must be a member in good standing with the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Must have 3 years of professional legal experience, acquired after being admitted to the bar, commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Graduation from an ABA-Accredited Law School in the top 25% of the class or an advanced law degree such as an LLM may substitute for one year of the required professional legal experience.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance for access for the duration of employment.
- Must be able to maintain active bar membership, in good standing (as defined by the pertinent bar) of the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. territory, the District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
