Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Defense as an Attorney Adviser General, Deputy, Acquisition Law Division. As a key member of the team, you will provide legal support and advice to the HQ DLA J7 (Acquisition) staff, responsible for a 9000-member acquisition organization with almost $50B in contract obligations annually.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal support and advice to the HQ DLA J7 (Acquisition) staff.
  • Serve as Deputy Acquisition Law Division Chief, responsible for Acquisition Law guidance and advice to acquisition law attorneys.
  • Foster collaboration and communication between the Headquarters legal enterprise and the DLA Major Subordinate Command Offices of Counsel.
  • Advise on acquisition law issues, including procurement and policy reviews, contract-related litigation and protests, data rights, and contract tax matters.
  • Consult with the Chief, Acquisition Law Division, and the General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel on matters of major importance.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • This is an Excepted Service position.
  • Security Clearance: Non-Critical Sensitive with Secret Access.
Qualifications
  • First professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.).
  • Proof of licensure and membership in good standing with the bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia.
  • Professional legal experience in excess of 3 years commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position.

  • Demonstrated expert knowledge of Government procurement laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Leadership and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse, senior client base.
  • Analytical ability, including issue identification, legal research, and creative problem solving.

This position is designated Non-Critical Sensitive. If selected, you must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
