Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze historical cost data to formulate accurate estimates for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Engage with clients, vendors, and internal teams to discuss estimates and address any arising issues.
  • Develop comprehensive estimates to assist management in planning, organizing, and scheduling work effectively.
  • Examine blueprints and related documentation to prepare detailed time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and contractors to adjust cost estimates as necessary.
  • Review contracts and bid documents to ensure a thorough understanding of project scopes.
  • Participate in site walk-throughs and pre-bid meetings to clarify project requirements.
  • Conduct quantitative take-offs and input data into relevant systems.
  • Draft scope letters and proposals for client consideration.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Department as needed to ensure project alignment.
  • Ensure all documentation is securely stored in the company’s confidential estimating folders.
  • Assist project managers with take-offs and pricing adjustments as required.
  • Report critical issues to the Estimating Manager with suggested resolutions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by company leadership.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the construction industry.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with PDF viewing software (Adobe, BlueBeam).
  • Knowledge of estimating software (AutoCAD Fabrication EstMEP, Quotesoft, etc.).
