Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze historical cost data to create accurate estimates for upcoming projects.
  • Engage with clients, vendors, and internal teams to discuss estimates and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Develop detailed estimates that assist management in planning, organizing, and scheduling tasks.
  • Review blueprints and other documentation to prepare comprehensive time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and contractors to adjust cost estimates as necessary.
  • Examine contract and bid documents to fully understand project scope.
  • Participate in project walk-throughs and pre-bid meetings for scope clarification.
  • Conduct quantitative take-offs and ensure accurate data entry.
  • Draft scope letters and proposals for client review.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Department as required.
  • Ensure all documents are securely stored in the company’s confidential estimating folders.
  • Assist project managers with take-offs and any pricing adjustments.
  • Report critical issues to the Estimating Manager with proposed solutions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by management.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the construction sector.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Strong understanding of the construction industry and contract documentation.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with PDF viewing software (Adobe, BlueBeam).
  • Knowledge of estimating software (e.g., AutoCAD Fabrication EstMEP, Quotesoft).
