Position Overview:

OM Internships is looking for a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing production blueprints, job specifications, and associated data to conceptualize the manufacturing and machining workflows necessary for component fabrication.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement efficient manufacturing processes tailored to meet client requirements.
  • Estimate timeframes and material costs associated with production activities.
  • Provide engineering insights aimed at reducing costs, enhancing processes, and improving delivery timelines.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and team members to ensure alignment on project goals.
  • Create process routers and Bills of Materials to streamline operations.

Collaborate with the sales team, production staff, vendors, and clients to:

  • Verify customer specifications and ensure clarity of expectations.
  • Assess internal capabilities to confirm feasibility of job specifications.
  • Identify potential scheduling conflicts, production delays, and information gaps.
  • Secure accurate and competitive pricing for manufacturing tasks.

Modify engineering drawings by producing supplementary documents that illustrate the cutting, bending, and shaping of sheet metal required to manufacture components and assemblies as per client specifications.

Review and assess engineering changes proposed by fabrication personnel; upon customer approval and receipt of updated drawings, revise all relevant internal documentation and programs.

Analyze and evaluate Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), engineering memoranda, and drawings received from clients; suggest alternatives when necessary.

Investigate and resolve challenges encountered during the manufacturing and assembly processes.

Develop appropriate file formats for machine transfer to facilitate the cutting of sheet metal and plates using lasers, turret punches, and press brakes.


Physical Requirements:

The role primarily involves desk work, with some time spent on the shop floor.


Work Environment:

This position is based in an office setting, complemented by time on the production floor.


Qualifications:
  • Experience: 3-5+ years in a Manufacturing Engineering role.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of sheet metal fabrication and machining processes.
  • Capability to develop cost estimates for diverse projects and components.
  • Aptitude for identifying critical elements of manufacturing challenges and devising effective solutions.

Education:

A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
