Job Overview

The Accounting Specialist role is designed for individuals who can manage a varied clientele, including affluent individuals, charitable organizations, and corporate entities. A solid grasp of both accrual and cash accounting methods is essential. Candidates should exhibit meticulous attention to detail and adaptability. Responsibilities include managing accounts payable, invoicing clients, reconciling bank statements, and preparing compliance documents such as 1099 forms, payroll, and sales tax returns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from high-net-worth individuals to nonprofit organizations and corporate clients.
  • Oversee accounts payable, client invoicing, bank reconciliations, and compliance documentation including 1099 forms, payroll, and sales tax returns.
  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for assigned client accounts.
  • Work both in-office and on-site at client locations as required.
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in bookkeeping, particularly with small business accounting, payroll processing, and advisory services.
  • Thorough understanding of accrual and cash basis accounting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with payroll transaction regulations and compliance.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks (both online and desktop versions).
  • Experienced with ADP payroll software.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.

Leadership Skills:

Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a high-performing team effectively.

Technical Skills:

Proficient in bookkeeping software and financial management systems, with basic knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
