Position Overview:

Arcadis is looking for a Resident Engineer to join our team, focusing on projects that enhance urban parks and green infrastructure. This role involves full-time engagement with potential for overtime.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing contractors involved in our street and sidewalk initiatives, as well as participating in planting activities. A personal vehicle is a necessary requirement for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily inspections and supervision of construction sites to ensure safety, compliance with permits, and coordination with municipal agencies.
  • Monitor and assess contractor performance to guarantee adherence to technical specifications and overall effectiveness.
  • Review contract line items and track daily quantities.
  • Perform on-site measurements and maintain accurate records during construction activities.
  • Keep detailed daily, weekly, and expert tracking logs.
  • Facilitate field meetings with contractors and stakeholders to discuss project progress and remaining tasks.
  • Act as a representative for the City's urban forestry initiatives during interactions with residents and property owners.
  • Implement health and safety procedures as outlined by project requirements.
  • Be prepared to work in various boroughs as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in construction or civil engineering.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.
  • Possession of a personal vehicle and a valid driver's license.
Essential Skills & Attributes:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team.
  • Ability to interpret design plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to engage in a green infrastructure mentorship program.
  • Competence in using technology, including tablets, in the field.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in supervising capital contracts.
  • Knowledge of construction and restoration oversight.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • EIT Certification.
