Position Summary:


Under the guidance of the Environmental Care Manager, the Supervisor is tasked with delivering high-quality and dependable services to the Johns Hopkins Health System community, which encompasses patients, families, healthcare professionals, researchers, staff, and visitors.

The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for establishing daily priorities to meet departmental objectives and goals while supporting the programmatic and fiscal strategies of the department.

This role ensures that performance standards align with the service expectations of a diverse client base, monitors productivity, tracks progress and customer satisfaction, and maintains effective communication with clients and stakeholders.

It is essential to ensure work quality and performance comply with departmental and hospital standards, procedures, and policies, as well as local, state, and federal regulations.

Utilizing quality assurance tools effectively, the Supervisor guarantees a consistently high level of cleanliness through the use of checklists. Excellent customer service is provided to patients, families, and staff.

The Supervisor collaborates with staff to enhance HCAHPS and Press Ganey scores, striving to meet and exceed hospital goals.

Additionally, the Supervisor works with staff to ensure consistently high cleanliness scores and coordinates the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, routines, and schedules.

Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, assigning, directing, and supervising the work performed by bargaining unit staff. Close collaboration with other Facilities staff members is necessary to ensure a well-coordinated provision of environmental services.

Support for safety programs is crucial for the ongoing maintenance of a safe workplace and a safety-conscious staff.

The Supervisor directly oversees staff in delivering programs necessary to maintain clean facilities in the most efficient and effective manner.

Participation in the hiring, training, evaluation, and termination of staff as required is expected. The Supervisor evaluates and makes recommendations regarding equipment, supplies, and procedures, ensuring that all activities and programs comply with statutory requirements and regulatory guidelines.

Other related duties may be assigned as necessary, and this work is performed under limited supervision.


Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.

Language Requirements:
English Required/Spanish Preferred

Work Experience:
Minimum of 2 years in environmental care/services or related fields.
At least 1 year of experience in a unionized environment is required.
Preferred: 6 months of experience in instructing, coaching, or training others.
