Job Overview

Position Summary

The Fleet Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that the entire fleet of vehicles is maintained in optimal condition, facilitating the efficient transportation of products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee fleet maintenance through regular preventative measures and maintain precise inventory records.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to fleet maintenance personnel.
  • Provide direct oversight of all fleet-related tasks.
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of new team members.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Office Manager, Plant Manager, Route Supervisor, and General Manager to optimize fleet operations.
  • May oversee the overall logistics operations of the facility.
  • Manage purchasing and expenditures in alignment with budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of both the interior and exterior of the fleet vehicles.
  • Maintain compliance with DOT recordkeeping; monitor tachograph cards to adhere to all relevant regulations.
  • Coordinate with external haulers for product pickup and delivery; verify finished product weights to ensure accurate billing and profitability.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a mechanical role is essential.
  • 1-2+ years of supervisory experience, preferably in an industrial or plant environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced training or experience as a fleet mechanic is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and administrative skills.
  • Ability to lead effectively and accept direction.
  • Capable of addressing minor equipment issues and various challenges.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs; occasionally must push, pull, or lift up to 100 lbs.
  • Regularly required to reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be performed in an automotive shop or outdoor areas of the facility.
