Position Overview:

The Chief Risk Management Officer will spearhead the clinical risk management framework at Cantex Continuing Care Network, emphasizing effective clinical governance practices and strategies that pinpoint potential risks within the healthcare environment. This role is pivotal in orchestrating and devising action plans aimed at minimizing risks to patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the formulation and execution of a comprehensive Risk Management Program that identifies, evaluates, and mitigates risks to both residents and employees.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into incidents, employing root cause analysis to develop preventive strategies.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations pertinent to risk management.
  • Compile and report data to relevant agencies regarding mandated reporting of preventable adverse events.
  • Document, analyze, and present risk metrics and incident data as required by regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Address risk-related patient complaints and incident reports, facilitating timely resolutions and corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with the legal department to manage claims and litigation effectively.
  • Implement and oversee initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety and reducing medical errors.

Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement:

  • Lead and coordinate Quality Assurance Performance Improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Provide executive summaries at quarterly meetings regarding compliance with quality assurance and safety standards.
  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to quality and safety outcomes.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and desired outcomes.
  • Perform site visits to assess key risk areas, collecting data and providing actionable recommendations.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Oversee the Quality Incentive Payment Program, ensuring facilities achieve optimal compliance.
  • Work closely with operational leaders to facilitate planning, implementation, and documentation of onboarding processes.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership on risk management and quality performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in skilled nursing facilities and risk management.
  • Current RN license is mandatory; certification in Risk Management is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and data analysis skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities to engage with diverse stakeholders.
