Cost Estimation Specialist

This role involves preparing detailed cost assessments for various projects and providing essential support to senior management as required. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing cost estimates, conducting pricing and benchmarking analysis, and maintaining organized project documentation. Key Responsibilities:


• Analyze blueprints and other relevant documents to generate precise cost estimates. Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs based on available design materials.


• Thrive in a dynamic environment, demonstrating adaptability to changing circumstances.


• Gather accurate and current pricing data from various sources, including databases, contractors, and suppliers, to inform estimates.


• Collaborate with architects and engineers to gain a clear understanding of project scope during the estimation process. Build strong relationships with members of architectural and engineering firms as well as project team members.


• Assist senior personnel in identifying strategies to enhance project efficiency. Continuously seek methods to improve the accuracy and efficiency of tasks.


• Organize and maintain project documents, including drawings and specifications, in accordance with company standards. Ensure project files are systematically stored on the company server.


• Update and maintain a comprehensive data library of costs.


• Prepare cost reconciliations between multiple estimates and clarify the reasons for any variances.


• Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor as necessary.


• Complexity - The role involves conventional practices but may encompass a variety of intricate features.


• Decision-making - Most tasks are performed independently. Make informed judgments on technical issues and methodologies, receiving approval for proposed project plans and general guidance on expected outcomes or unusual challenges.


• Supervision - Provide direction to junior technical staff and review their work on specific assignments.

Qualifications:


• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline, accompanied by a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.


• Preferred professional designations include RICS, CCE, CCM, AIA, PE, ASPE, AACEI, CVS, AVS, LEED AP, RA, or any appraisal or real estate licensure.


• Proficient in utilizing Information Technology tools essential for job performance, including Internet resources, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project.


• Strong analytical skills, clear communication abilities, and a methodical approach to problem-solving are essential. Excellent presentation skills are also required.
