Piping Cost Estimator - Industrial Projects

OVERVIEW

In this role, you will collaborate with a high-performing project team and report to industry experts. Regular interactions will occur with project managers, craft supervisors, and company operations leaders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Piping Cost Estimator, your duties will include:

  • Analyzing preliminary drawings, sketches, discussions, and field assessments to extract details and quantify all necessary materials and labor
  • Creating detailed take-offs, bills of materials, and labor estimates while obtaining material and subcontractor quotes
  • Identifying potential risks not evident in project documentation and taking proactive measures to mitigate them
  • Assisting in the formulation of alternative proposals, including unit pricing, fixed fees, and time and materials formats
  • Coordinating proposals from scope identification through to final costing and submission
  • Maintaining a comprehensive list of clarifications, assumptions, and qualifications identified as risks during proposal development
  • Accurately summarizing and documenting all piping materials and labor
  • Ensuring the most cost-effective and innovative use of materials, fabrication, subcontractors, and equipment for each proposal
  • Participating in formal bid reviews and project team meetings
  • Organizing the take-off process to align with bid breakdown forms and submissions
  • Managing a large volume of documents and data, ensuring easy recall of work breakdowns, sketches, and other relevant information to support pricing estimates
  • Ensuring that estimates and take-offs comply with established estimating standards and processes

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management, or equivalent experience in industrial/mechanical estimating
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial/mechanical estimating
  • Additional training and/or certification is preferred
