Position Summary: We are in search of a motivated and dynamic professional to fill the role of Energy Engineer within our Energy Practice Area. This position will be based in our Hauppauge, NY office and will involve supporting various project types within the Energy group while fostering teamwork. Responsibilities include providing energy calculation support, conducting field verification, and collecting data on existing building energy systems, as well as developing energy assessment reports and studies. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to lead energy projects from inception to completion, with guidance from junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive and investment-grade energy audits to identify energy conservation measures (ECMs) across various client sectors and facility types.
  • Conduct data collection, utility bill disaggregation, and benchmarking.
  • Perform field visits, execute energy calculations, and create detailed energy measure descriptions, including work scope packages, cost estimates, and contractor pricing.
  • Excel in report writing, project design documentation, and the development of measurement and verification plans with contract documents.
  • Assist the project management team in the design, bidding, and construction phases of energy efficiency projects.

Qualifications:
  • 3 to 10 years of relevant experience in technical areas such as lighting, HVAC, solar, or other renewable energy sources.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Energy Manager in Training (CEM IT) or other relevant industry certifications is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is required.
  • Experience in building modeling is a significant plus.
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC systems and commissioning/retro-commissioning is desirable.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks across various projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Quality assurance and quality control of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Experience supporting construction activities during project implementation.
  • Background in energy audits or energy-related construction projects.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and clients.
  • Willingness to travel as needed (approximately 10%).

Compensation: Salary range is $85,000 - $105,000. Wendel is committed to offering fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The salary offered will be based on the successful candidate's relevant education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with regional adjustment factors.
