We are in search of a meticulous and organized Renewable Energy Project Coordinator who embodies GSI's core values of environmental stewardship, fostering enduring partnerships, and supporting sustainable initiatives that benefit all stakeholders. This role will involve assisting the Project Development team in the advancement, permitting, and contracting of various solar initiatives within North American energy markets.

This is a full-time, permanent remote position requiring significant role-based travel, along with occasional visits to our offices in Canada and the U.S. The primary focus will be on Northeast U.S. markets, with potential responsibilities extending to other regions served by GSI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regularly update and maintain the Project Tracker tool, ensuring all relevant tasks are organized for the project portfolio. Provide both written and verbal updates on completion timelines, progress, and any emerging risks.
  • Maintain a well-organized file structure for numerous projects, ensuring timely and accurate filing of electronic documents. Set up and manage data rooms for external access when necessary.
  • Conduct market analysis, evaluate industry trends, and assess potential project sites to identify opportunities for solar development.
  • Provide updates to landowners regarding the scheduling of on-site consultants, town meetings, and other relevant topics.
  • Engage with agencies and municipal staff to document solar ordinances and summarize design considerations, risks, and legal applicability.
  • Support financial modeling and analysis for project feasibility, including cost estimation, revenue forecasting, and identification of financial incentives.
  • Coordinate project activities, timelines, and resources to ensure adherence to project milestones and objectives.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals, bids, and presentations for stakeholders, investors, and financing entities.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings with the NY Development Team, taking detailed notes on action items and next steps.
  • Familiarize with utility interconnection processes and assist in completing online applications for multiple projects.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, permits, environmental assessments, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support Developers in preparing necessary deliverables for project negotiations.
  • Demonstrate effective time management skills while balancing desk work and travel obligations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with county and town officials to facilitate timely completion and approval of zoning, land-use variances, and other required permits.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Key Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in project management, engineering, environmental science, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, environmental science, engineering, construction management, or executive assistance, with at least 1 year in the renewable energy sector.
  • Understanding of the complete renewable energy project lifecycle, relevant power policies, renewable markets, technologies, and associated risks.
  • Collaborative and enthusiastic personality with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, comfortable presenting to groups.
  • Valid driver's license.
