Wastewater Treatment Specialist

U. S. Steel is seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Technician to join our team at our Gary Plant. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective treatment of wastewater, while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, and chemical feed systems.
- Monitor and control wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and facilities to prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements and optimize wastewater treatment operations.
- Develop and implement training programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- IDEM Wastewater Operator License (Class A or B)
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work at heights
- Ability to operate mobile equipment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
