The Assigned Counsel Plan (ACP) has been delivering essential legal services to individuals in need since 1966, operating under Article 18-B of the County Law. Funded by the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services and the City of New York, ACP ensures that private attorneys are compensated for representing clients facing criminal charges when institutional providers are unable to do so due to conflicts of interest.

ROLE SUMMARY:

ACP is in search of a seasoned criminal investigator to lead a team of expert investigators across various boroughs, including Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island. The Lead Investigator will collaborate with private investigators and attorneys to guarantee that optimal investigative methods are employed, thereby ensuring clients receive top-tier representation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising panel investigators who assist attorneys in case preparation.
  • Supporting attorneys in analyzing discovery materials and strategizing defense approaches.
  • Working alongside attorneys to confirm that comprehensive investigations are conducted.
  • Monitoring entries in the ACP case management system to ensure the effective retention of investigators by attorneys.
  • Collaborating with attorneys, non-attorney advocates, and specialists to formulate case strategies.
  • Providing training and ongoing professional development opportunities for investigators.
  • Maintaining prompt communication with panel attorneys and investigators.
  • Performing additional duties as required.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Interested candidates should submit their resume, cover letter, and references.

Qualifications:
