Job Summary

Blue Origin is seeking a highly skilled Thermal Hardware Engineer II to join our team in developing sustainable infrastructure for space transportation. As a key member of our Lunar Permanence business unit, you will contribute to the definition and development of spacecraft thermal control systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and development of thermal components, from conception to integration with the vehicle.
  • Work closely with the Thermal Analysis group within the Lunar Thermal integrated product team.
  • Develop component specifications, test plans, and reports.
  • Collaborate with NASA and National Team Partners on the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program.
  • Play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 0+ year relevant Thermal Engineering experience.
  • Solid understanding of thermal fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with common spacecraft thermal hardware.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. or PhD degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 2+ years of relevant aerospace experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building and testing hardware.
  • Solid understanding of pumped fluid loop hardware and semi-passive devices.
  • Understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process.
  • Experience solving a variety of thermal problems.
  • Vendor technical management experience.
  • Familiarity with Thermal Desktop and Sinda/Fluint.
