Job Summary

The Lead Instructor - Paramedic is responsible for educating, training, and professionally developing students in the Paramedic courses. This role involves leading classes, labs, and clinical activities, as well as assessing student performance and providing coaching and feedback.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate student performance on a scheduled basis, as directed by the Program Director.
  • Provide cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and summative evaluations as directed.
  • Take attendance daily and maintain accurate records.
  • Document corrective action with students as necessary and maintain records of test failure attempts and verbal and written counseling.
  • Enter grades in the current Barry University grade entry system.
  • Follow the syllabus and training plans as laid out by the Training Coordinator and Coordinator Staff, and Medical Director.
  • Maintain the EMS Program LMS platform in conjunction with the Training Coordinator.
  • Complete program and CoAEMSP required student evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all class and lab space is properly policed, keeping areas and equipment neat, clean, and in full working order.
  • Teach for the entire duration of the class period, maximizing instruction with available class time.
  • Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, etc. set forth by the Director and Coordinator staff.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the United States Department of Education.
  • Florida Level A EMS Instructor Certificate.
  • Minimum of three years of experience with an ALS service.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor credentials, as well as NAEMT instructor certification in PHTLS and AMLS within six months from date of hire.
