Paramedic Education Specialist

Job Summary

The Lead Instructor - Paramedic at Barry University is responsible for educating, training, and professionally developing students in the Paramedic courses. This role involves leading activities directly related to scheduled instruction, including lecture, labs, clinical, performance, and coaching assignments, as well as student assessment and testing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate students on a schedule as directed by the Program Director via the EMS Programs Coordinator.
  • Provide cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and summative evaluations as directed.
  • Take attendance daily and maintain records of test failure attempts.
  • Take and document corrective action with students as necessary.
  • Enter grades in the current Barry University grade entry system.
  • Follow the syllabus and training plans as laid out by the Training Coordinator and Coordinator Staff, and Medical Director.
  • Maintain current the EMS Program LMS platform in conjunction with the Training Coordinator.
  • Complete program and CoAEMSP required student evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all class and lab space is always properly policed, keeping areas and equipment neat, clean, and in full working order.
  • Teach for the entire duration of the class period, maximizing the instruction with the available class time.
  • Follow all rules, regulations, policies, etc. set forth by the Director and Coordinator staff.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Class Lead instructors must possess a minimum of an Associate's degree from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the United States Department of Education.
  • Florida Level A EMS Instructor Certificate (All instructors)
  • Minimum of three years of experience with an ALS service
  • All EMS instructors will have BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor credentials as well as NAEMT instructor certification in PHTLS and AMLS within six months from date of hire to maintain employment.
