  • Facilitating access to fresh, local produce through our network of Greenmarkets and Farmstands.

  • Supporting community and educational gardens through various resources and training.
  • Engaging 70,000 children annually in programs that connect them with nature.

Position Summary

We are looking for a Facility Manager to oversee the New York State Regional Food Hub (NYSRFH), a cutting-edge produce distribution center located in the Bronx. This facility accommodates both GrowNYC's operations and various tenants. The Facility Manager will ensure the effective and safe management, maintenance, and supervision of the building.

Key Responsibilities

Management and Maintenance Duties:

  • Oversee a comprehensive maintenance strategy for the facility.
  • Manage relationships with on-site vendors, contractors, and tenants.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Support GrowNYC's initiatives and tenant activities proactively.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics to align with organizational goals.
  • Engage in departmental meetings and presentations.
  • Lead the recruitment, training, and supervision of building service staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations.
  • Supervise daily operations including security and maintenance tasks.
  • Manage the building's budget effectively.
  • Perform hands-on repairs as necessary.

Planning Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with leadership to advance GrowNYC's mission.
  • Oversee life safety systems and develop emergency response plans.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant facilities management experience.
  • Trade school training or certifications in a related field.
  • Experience with refrigerated warehouse operations is preferred.
  • Proven track record in staff supervision and budget management.
  • Strong technical understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Customer service-oriented with a focus on satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in vendor management and organizational skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining composure.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Self-motivated and committed to high standards of work.
  • Flexible with work hours, including availability for emergencies.
  • Professional demeanor with conflict resolution skills.
  • A passionate leader focused on operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Specialized knowledge certifications.

Physical Requirements

Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and navigating the facility for inspections.

Compensation and Benefits
