Position Summary
The Healthcare Access Coordinator is responsible for the seamless and efficient registration of patients. This role serves as the primary point of contact for individuals receiving both professional and clinical services at Phoenix Children's Primary Care. The Coordinator prepares necessary admission documentation, secures required signatures, and verifies demographic details when patients or their guardians arrive for services. Additionally, the role involves collecting co-payments and deductible amounts at the time of service.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate documentation of all patient information in the designated fields and/or account notes, maintaining precision when entering demographic and insurance details into the system.
- Facilitate the arrival of patients who have been pre-registered for professional and hospital services, collecting co-payments and deductible amounts while obtaining necessary signatures from the guarantor at registration.
- Respond courteously to telephone inquiries, providing timely and informative answers to all questions.
- Identify uninsured and underinsured patients, referring them to the Financial Counselor or appropriate representative as needed.
- Utilize patient account systems to check for any outstanding liabilities in relevant databases.
- Foster positive relationships with patients, guarantors, insurance providers, government agencies, clinical staff, colleagues, and management to promote teamwork and a positive public image for Phoenix Children's Hospital.
- Organize, prioritize, and monitor daily tasks to ensure complete, accurate, and compliant registration is conducted efficiently.
- Engage in various educational programs within the unit and hospital to maintain up-to-date skills and competencies.
- Perform registration in the appropriate Health Information System (HIS), verify insurance coverage, and obtain authorizations for patients who have not been pre-registered.
- Carry out miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
