New City Kids is a faith-based organization that provides a unique and creative ministry for youth in Jersey City and Paterson, NJ, and Grand Rapids and Detroit, MI. We empower teens with leadership roles and create a joyful environment filled with laughter and hard work. Our staff consists of dedicated adults who love children, and we employ local high school students as interns to lead our music-focused after-school center and summer camp.
We are seeking an experienced and organized administrative professional to join our team as a Part-time Administrative Support Specialist for our Grand Rapids location. This permanent part-time position involves approximately 30 hours per week.
Job Description:Schedule and BenefitsThis role supports the Executive Director and the Grand Rapids site by assisting with daily administrative tasks, including scheduling, filing, organizing, general administrative duties, daily mail, office supply oversight, answering general inquiry calls and emails about New City Kids, volunteer recruitment and coordination for our programs, attendance registration, parent relations, donor support, and coordinating special events and projects.
Responsibilities- Assist the Executive Director with daily administrative tasks
- Schedule appointments and maintain calendars
- Organize files and documents
- Manage office supplies and ensure the center is stocked and orderly
- Answer and respond to general inquiries about New City Kids
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers for our programs
- Support attendance registration, parent relations, and donor engagement
- Coordinate special events and projects as assigned
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong commitment to communicating the goals and mission of New City Kids, including a personal Christian commitment and alignment with our statement of faith and diversity, equity, and inclusion policy
- Associates degree or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 2 years of direct experience in administration
- Bilingual ability to speak English and Spanish fluently
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Organizational skills, including data entry and comfort with Microsoft Excel
- Proven experience engaging and communicating across cultures
- Familiarity with web-based programs and virtual platforms like Zoom, Google, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong attention to detail
This part-time position offers an estimated salary of $25-$30 per hour, based on industry standards for similar roles in the Grand Rapids area. The schedule is approximately 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 12:30pm-6:30pm.
