Administrative Assistant III

This position is part of the Division of Children, Youth and Families (CYF) in Fairfax County Government. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to support the Placement and Resource Team under the Foster Care and Adoption (FC&A) Resource and Support Program. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to social services specialists and supervisors, handling case management records, scheduling, and coordination, as well as communicating with clients and staff.
Key Responsibilities
The Administrative Assistant III will be responsible for:
- Managing case records, including entering and finding records in automated and electronic systems
- Developing and maintaining organizational systems to ensure timely and accurate support to units
- Preparing and generating reports, memos, and letters
- Handling client-related phone calls and letters, including interacting with upset clients
- Supporting unit social services staff with managing supplies, mailing, and other tasks
- Assisting social services supervisors with hiring efforts, including scheduling interviews and compiling interview packets
- Working on special projects, such as researching and coordinating presentations
- Providing training and support to other administrative assistants as needed
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
- Ability to develop and maintain organizational systems
- Intermediate level of expertise in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to maintain professional ethics and confidentiality of client information
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals
