Position Overview: The Senior Engineer - Analyzer will play a crucial role in providing maintenance engineering support and enhancing the reliability of refinery analyzers. This position serves as an equipment specialist, leading and coordinating efforts across the refinery to identify and implement reliability enhancements aimed at achieving optimal asset performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the analyzer equipment class and establish recognition as an analyzer engineer, demonstrating a thorough understanding of both company and industry standards relevant to this equipment.
  • Proactively pursue reliability enhancements focused on maximizing plant equipment uptime.
  • Specify and procure necessary parts, materials, and equipment while facilitating external repairs as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment alongside other engineering disciplines, operations, and mechanical personnel.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on key performance indicators for the analyzer class, identifying potential improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and document procedures for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining analyzers, under the mentorship of a more experienced analyzer engineer.
  • Work closely with Instrument Technicians to assist in troubleshooting and repairs of analyzers.
  • Be available outside of standard working hours to oversee troubleshooting and repair efforts.
  • Prepare equipment failure analysis reports and provide support for equipment failure incidents.
  • Adhere to refinery safety protocols and contribute to the development of safe work practices for analyzer operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the oil and gas or chemical sectors, specifically supporting instrumentation in a plant setting.
  • Demonstrated strategic and creative thinking capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills essential for effective teamwork. This role serves as the focal point for Analyzer reliability, collaborating closely with process, mechanical, and technical teams to devise solutions.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with proficiency in computer applications necessary for communication and analysis.
  • Familiarity with analyzers including CEMS, Gas Chromatography, Spectroscopy, and sample system design.
  • Knowledge of PLC/HMI systems, DCS systems, and data acquisition systems.
  • Understanding of industry standards such as NEC, NFPA, API, and ISA.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to urgent situations.
