Client Intake Specialist

PRIMARY ROLE:
The Client Intake Specialist is responsible for executing the centralized intake process from various referral sources, including detoxification, rehabilitation, and outpatient services, to ensure optimal program capacity. This role involves conducting motivational interviews and evaluating clients for eligibility for admission.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts comprehensive clinical diagnostic interviews with prospective clients and applies admissions criteria for immediate entry into all service programs (both outpatient and inpatient).
- Secures necessary releases from clients to obtain information from child welfare, parole, probation, legal aid, and other relevant entities.
- Drafts correspondence to external agencies outlining the services offered by the organization.
- Acts as the primary contact between referral sources throughout the admission process.
- Completes reports as mandated by OASAS.
- Handles incoming phone referrals, schedules screening appointments, and documents assessment interview notes.
- Collaborates closely with licensed clinical social workers and medical personnel regarding clients' medical and psychological considerations pertinent to admission suitability.
- Submits reports detailing the number of clients assessed and their outcomes.
- Provides census reports that indicate the waiting list status, current program participants, discharges, and new admissions.
- Maintains ongoing outreach efforts to nurture relationships with all potential referral sources.
- Fills in for other counselors during their absence.
- Performs additional tasks as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full Time
COMPENSATION: $45,000 - $50,000 annually, based on experience

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must possess a GED/High School diploma and a CASAC certification; or a CASAC-T with relevant experience. CASAC certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Candidates should demonstrate cultural sensitivity to the needs of clients with substance use disorders and possess computer proficiency.
