Position: Quality Control Specialist
Reports to: Chief Chemist

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, or Tuesday to Friday with Sunday shifts

Compensation: $36.12 - $43.18 per hour, with opportunities for overtime

Note: The compensation range reflects the potential earnings based on individual performance, experience, and tenure with the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Under general supervision and adhering to established protocols, the Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality of all products manufactured at the facility. This includes conducting laboratory tests to verify compliance with specifications (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO) and performing both chemical and physical analyses on cement, clinker, and raw materials.

  • Adhere to all safety protocols within the plant.
  • Conduct necessary laboratory tests on raw materials, clinker, and cement to verify quality, including wet chemical analysis and physical testing.
  • Prepare samples for testing as required.
  • Operate, calibrate, and perform minor maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain an inventory of chemical solutions and laboratory supplies.
  • Document quality analysis results and maintain logs.
  • Assist the Chief Chemist in daily quality control operations.
  • Perform combined chemical and physical testing on weekends for quality assurance.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Training Requirements:

The Quality Control Specialist must familiarize themselves with ISO 14001 standards.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret safety labels, instructions, and signs.
  • Willingness to learn; training will be provided.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent in laboratory science is preferred.
  • At least one year of laboratory experience in related chemical and physical testing is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with chemical testing methods, including wet chemical and x-ray analysis.
  • Capability to perform accurate analyses with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in operating laboratory equipment such as balances, x-ray machines, and physical testing apparatus.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring walking, climbing, and lifting up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights of up to 250 feet.

Work Environment:

This role involves working in both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to cement dust, varying temperatures, and noise levels. Compliance with safety guidelines is essential, especially when working at elevated heights.
