REPORTS TO:
Quality Assurance Manager. Daily oversight and project scheduling are facilitated through ongoing communication with the relevant Project Manager and/or Supervisor.

Position Overview:

The Quality Control Inspector is tasked with overseeing quality assurance protocols for all preservation activities conducted on commercial and naval vessels, adhering to established industry standards and specific contractual obligations as outlined in the Scope of Work.

Collaborate closely with customer quality assurance personnel to ensure compliance with necessary job specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
Generate and maintain both electronic and handwritten Quality Assurance documentation as Objective Quality Evidence throughout the preservation process. Develop and uphold a Test and Inspection Plan (TIP) for all assigned projects.

Monitor and record all essential readings related to metal anchor tooth profiles, paint wet/dry film thickness, steel temperatures, and environmental conditions using appropriate tools such as:
micrometers, dry film thickness gauges, infrared thermometers, and psychrometers. Ensure that all assigned equipment is kept in optimal working condition and within calibration certification intervals.

All tasks must be executed safely and efficiently to prevent injury to oneself or others.


Education Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent

Certification Requirements:
NACE Inspector and/or SSPC NBPI certification is mandatory.

Experience Requirements:
Previous formal or informal training in the marine sector; familiarity with Navy and Society for Protective Coatings standards is essential.

Required Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of maritime painting standards, particularly those related to US Navy ship preservation criteria. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, email, and database management is required. Ability to perform mathematical calculations associated with preservation readings and documentation; capable of interpreting and executing complex written, oral, or diagrammed instructions. Must demonstrate professionalism and cooperation when interacting with supervisors, colleagues, and customer representatives.

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of working an 8-10 hour shift, which includes average computer use, some physical dexterity, and agility in confined spaces.

Working Conditions:

Frequently required to stand for extended periods; work on scaffolding and ladders; access machinery; and operate in confined spaces.

Regular exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, and various weather conditions. Overtime or shift work may be necessary. Strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
