Role Responsibilities:
- Ensure the quality, completeness, and upkeep of the laboratory's procedural, policy, and safety documentation.
- Oversee daily laboratory operations, including scheduling, sample management, routine and specialized testing, and prioritization of tasks.
- Interpret and evaluate test outcomes, and supervise the preparation of analytical reports.
- Facilitate the advancement and implementation of laboratory information systems and computer technologies.
- Collaborate with the Laboratory Director and Manager on strategic objectives and long-term planning initiatives.
- Assess and manage the introduction of new or enhanced technologies within the laboratory.
- Supervise the laboratory's Quality Assurance and proficiency testing programs, including preparation for inspections.
- Evaluate staff performance, ensure adequate training, and assess competency levels.
- Manage staff expectations and mediate conflicts, while providing technical support to frontline personnel.
As Assigned:
- Review and authorize histocompatibility and chimerism reports.
- Assist the Manager with administrative tasks and laboratory enhancement projects.
- Represent the Clinical Immunogenetics Laboratory in leadership discussions.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field or medical technology from an accredited institution, or an associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology with equivalent training.
- A minimum of five years of clinical or research laboratory experience in histocompatibility testing.
- Certification as a Clinical Histocompatibility Technologist (CHT) or Clinical Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS) with ongoing education maintenance through ACHI.
- Proven ability to address personnel conflicts and issues with diplomacy.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and exercise sound judgment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HLA theory, testing methodologies, and ASHI Standards.
Preferred:
- Certification as a Clinical Histocompatibility Specialist (CHS).
- Training as an ASHI Inspector.
- Technical writing proficiency.
- Experience in supervisory roles.

Compensation and Benefits:
The annual base salary range for this position is competitive and will be determined based on experience and qualifications. This role may also be eligible for relocation assistance.
