Position Title: Plant Mechanic

Position Overview: The Plant Mechanic will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of machinery and equipment in accordance with layout plans, blueprints, and detailed instructions within industrial settings. This role requires proficiency in welding and pipefitting, alongside robust mechanical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams to determine work processes; disassemble machinery; relocate equipment as necessary.
  • Assemble and install machinery, conducting tests to ensure proper functionality.
  • Adhere strictly to established safety regulations.
  • Manage the layout and positioning of equipment in manufacturing environments to minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning components by conducting tests, making temporary fixes, or replacing parts.
  • Disassemble outdated machinery and install new equipment.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance by identifying potential issues, replacing worn components, and lubricating mechanical parts.
  • Utilize equipment such as forklifts to transport mechanical components.
  • Assemble and install various types of equipment, including conveyors, pumps, compressors, and turbines.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Conduct all work safely and efficiently, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Execute welding and pipefitting tasks as required.

Qualifications:

Preferred: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in mechanical work, welding, and pipefitting.

Physical and Job Site Requirements:

  • Ability to complete hiring documentation electronically.
  • May need to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to perform technical duties and essential functions.
  • Capability to navigate confined spaces and uneven terrain.
  • Full range of motion appropriate for age.
  • Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders.
  • Must be able to hear and respond to verbal commands and alerts from colleagues and equipment.
  • Visual acuity, depth perception, and color discrimination necessary for working at heights and on uneven surfaces.
  • Safety footwear is mandatory.
