Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Philadelphia Magazine. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the preparation and presentation of our culinary offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including cooks, dishwashers, and other support personnel
  • Ensure that all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards of quality and presentation
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations
  • Develop and implement new recipes and menu items, in collaboration with the Executive Chef
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and storage of ingredients and supplies
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop and implement kitchen policies and procedures

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent position in a high-volume restaurant or culinary establishment
  • Excellent communication, hospitality, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and continuously bend, reach, and twist
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree or certification preferred
