Company Sponsored Time: We are piloting a 4-day, 32-hour work week, and YWCA will provide this role 8 hours of Company Sponsored Time for you to use on Fridays to maintain work-life balance while maintaining pay at 40 hours a week.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all participants, staff, volunteers, and community partners are treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their background.
  • Obtain approval for, monitor, and engage in activities that fulfill the organization's commitment to social change.
  • Approach tasks with a focus on racial equity and its connection to poverty, applying anti-racism principles in daily operations.
  • Oversee general ledger activities within accounting software, including accounts receivable and grants management.
  • Assist in the upkeep of accounting systems, ensuring accuracy in the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Reconcile specific general ledger accounts such as accounts receivable and grants with supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate files and ensure all authorizations are recorded prior to the annual audit.
  • Archive documents in line with established record retention policies, including the purging of outdated files.
  • Provide coverage for the Accounting Specialist during absences due to vacations or illness.
  • Support the Chief Financial Officer with various tasks as time permits.
  • Complete annual tasks as assigned.

Accounts Payable & Receivable Support:

  • Manage invoicing and tracking of all receivables, including various revenue streams.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements to ensure accuracy.

Grants and Contracts Management:

  • Collaborate with Program Directors and accounting to ensure timely completion and submission of contract materials.
  • Meet monthly with Program Directors to review grant budgets and ensure proper expenditure.

Billing and Revenue Recognition:

  • In conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer, assign funding sources to payroll and operating expenses monthly.
  • Prepare grant and contract billings by the 10th of the following month and monitor payment receipts.
  • Analyze balance sheet accounts and maintain documentation for each account.

Cash Management:

  • Work with the Philanthropy's Database Manager to reconcile deposits entered into the database system.
  • Ensure all deposits are accurately recorded and posted in the accounting system on a weekly basis.

Internal Controls and Communication:

  • Address inquiries from staff and management regarding general ledger data and transactions.
  • Support the development of systems for gathering contracts and related data.
  • Communicate with contractors, grantors, and donors as necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date grant files.
  • Assist with audit preparation annually.

  • AA/BS in accounting, business management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in accounting, with a preference for nonprofit bookkeeping/accounting experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge across all accounting functions.
  • Familiarity with accounting software, payroll, and financial statements; knowledge of Financial Edge is preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are required.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and follow-through abilities.
  • Capability to follow directions, prioritize tasks, and complete duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse staff and clientele.

Compensation details: $27.00 Hourly Wage
