POSITION SUMMARY

As an integral member of the Executive Leadership team, the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a pivotal role in the strategic oversight and advancement of Vibrant Health KC. The CFO is responsible for the daily management, planning, implementation, and control of all financial operations, encompassing accounting, finance, forecasting, financial planning, billing, facilities management, procurement, analysis, and negotiations, as well as both public and private financing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and ongoing assessment of both short-term and long-term strategic financial goals.
  • Provide timely and precise analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts.
  • Oversee all facets of the Finance & Accounting departments.
  • Assess and advise on the implications of long-term planning, the introduction of new initiatives, and regulatory changes.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships across all organizational levels to identify needs and pursue comprehensive business solutions.
  • Offer executive management insights on the financial ramifications of business activities.
  • Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgeting, and consolidation.
  • Recommend strategies to enhance financial performance and capitalize on business opportunities.
  • Prepare and maintain a cash management plan and oversee banking and credit relationships.
  • Participate in and supervise key investments, including software systems and operational alternatives.
  • Stay updated on all grant and regulatory matters affecting the organization and recommend actions to optimize funding and ensure compliance.
  • Implement systems and procedures for internal audits of the organization's finances and operations, coordinating external audit activities.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources Department to ensure timely and efficient management of insurance matters, ensuring best cost practices and necessary coverage.
  • Review departmental performance to ensure compliance with fiscal governmental reporting requirements.
  • Engage in Finance Committee meetings to present the current fiscal status.
  • Work alongside the CEO to pursue all financial activities aimed at expanding the clinic, including education and training related to regulations affecting Federally Qualified Health Centers.
  • Uphold Vibrant Health's mission to provide equitable, culturally sensitive, and high-quality healthcare to the community.
  • Utilize supervision and consultation to maximize resources in completing work duties.
  • All responsibilities will be executed in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to enhance departmental effectiveness and advance the organization's mission.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; MBA or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in fiscal services, which may include grants, contracts, billing and collections, bookkeeping, accounting, and reporting.
  • Seven years of fiscal management experience, including three years in a healthcare setting, preferably within a Federally Qualified Health Center.
  • Experience in grant accounting is preferred.
  • Proficient technology skills across various platforms are required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels and with remote staff.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and creative skills, with the capacity to exercise sound judgment based on accurate and timely analyses.
  • High integrity and dependability, coupled with a strong sense of urgency and results-oriented mindset.
