The Salish Sea Institute at Western Washington University is seeking qualified candidates for a Non-Tenure Track Vacancy Pool. This pool will be used to fill temporary teaching positions in the Salish Sea Studies Program.
Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Institute's Associate Director/Academic Program Director, successful candidates will teach face-to-face undergraduate courses in the Salish Sea Studies Program, including the 'Introduction to the Salish Sea' lecture and lab courses, and/or other Salish Sea themed topics classes.
Responsibilities- Teach face-to-face undergraduate courses in the Salish Sea Studies Program
- Develop and implement curriculum for Salish Sea themed courses
- Assess student learning and provide feedback
- Participate in departmental and university service
- Master's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge relating to the Salish Sea's history, ecology, culture, and management complexities
- Demonstrated potential for effective teaching
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse students, faculty and staff, and to cultivating learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds
- Ph.D. in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated successful teaching experience in higher education
- Knowledge and use of learning management systems, such as Canvas
- Current scholarly/community engagement relating to the Salish Sea's history, ecology, culture, and management complexities

BenefitsSalary: $1,385-$1,800 per Credit, Commensurate with experience and qualifications
