The University of Tennessee seeks a skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join its Student Health Center team.

About the Position: This is a full-time regular staff position that requires a licensed and trained individual to provide outpatient psychiatric care within an ambulatory setting to U.T.K. students.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in nursing with a specialty in psychiatry and mental health, be licensed by the State of Tennessee Division of Health-Related Board, and have a Certificate of Fitness to prescribe psychiatric medications as indicated.

Responsibilities include providing outpatient clinical psychiatric care to eligible students 16 years of age or older, performing psychiatric consultations in primary service areas of the SHC as needed, referring patients to specialists and community providers when clinically appropriate, assisting with crisis intervention, and promoting preventative mental health care through individual discussions and educational materials.

Administrative duties will include maintaining clinical records in the electronic health record, participating in clinic staff meetings, committees, and University programs, serving as a liaison with the mental health community inside and outside the University of Tennessee setting, and staying current with the standards clinical psychiatric field of practice.
